Fermator recently participated in an interview with Canal Reus, where Manel Castaño, a member of the R&D management team, shared the company’s technological evolution, its commitment to innovation, and the future challenges of the sector.

During the conversation, it was highlighted how innovation has been an essential part of Fermator’s DNA since its founding in 1977. One key milestone mentioned was the participation in an international fair in 1994, where Fermator presented the linear opening motion and the frequency inverter for elevator doors, an innovation that marked a turning point both for the company and the entire industry.
The interview also addressed how sustainability is one of the main drivers of innovation within the company. Key areas of focus include improving user comfort in elevator use, reducing energy consumption—especially in standby mode—and developing AI-based solutions for predictive maintenance.
Additionally, the upcoming opening of a third factory in India was announced, aimed at meeting the growing demand for new installations and modernizations in emerging markets.
